BEGINING A NEW YEAR OF EDUCATION (2018-2019),

Dear Colleagues and Dear Students,

Our undergraduate training program was accredited by the World Federation of Medical Education and TEPDAD, the accrediting institution of YÖK. We are starting the new academic year with the responsibility and excitement of accreditation. Our undergraduation medical education management has worked hard to provide a good educational environment and a good start. We want to share with you what has been done . A new medical education management software program was introduced in order to make the course programs easily accessible, to collect student and faculty feedback electronically, to monitor consultancy services electronically and to manage measurement and evaluation processes. Our 2018-2019 Training Program was updated. An update in the lesson hours was made to the students so that they could have more free time. Behavioral sciences, humanities, science literacy and in-field elective courses were modified according to class objectives and learning objectives. For the first time this year, training will be conducted using Problem Based Learning (PBL). In the fifth grade, a PBL application titled “Rational Drug Use” was added to the training program. The Question Acceptance Committee has been working  actively to update the question bank. As a result of the experiences gained from last year, our Education and Examination Regulation was updated to provide convenience to our students. Basic Medicine Practices were again distributed to the classes properly  according to the class objectives and learning objectives. The guides to be used during the application trainings were updated and the missing ones were completed. Our physical spaces for education were reviewed. Audio-visual tools and desks have been renewed. New classrooms for elective courses were created. This year, 216 students and 50 foreign students who have settled with OSYM will register to our faculty. There will be students joining us with undergraduate transfer quotas. Due to the high number of students per faculty member, changes were made to the course schedule in order to have applied courses with fewer students. In the last two years, we have tried to increase the number of our faculty members as much as possible. We have organized “ Training of Trainers ”and  “ PDO Training” courses for our new faculty members. The aim of the Dean's Office for 2018-2019 Academic Year is to update the Postgraduate Medical Education Program and to finalize the activities we have started to meet the standards stipulated by the Medical Specialization Board towards the end of the year. Our Expertise Training Commission will set up an  Internal Audit Board within our faculty and prepare for the accreditation of our Postgraduate Training program. As always, we will give maximum support to our students for the publication of our Turkish Medical Student Journal in international directories. We will make more efforts to increase the impact factor of our Balkan Medical Journal. Our efforts continue to move our Dean's Office to Menza building. We will start construction and renovation works at the end of the year. We will also try to realize the project of building a student structure with student canteen, reading rooms, student council rooms and a cinema hall. The Strategic Plan for the 2018-2022 Period, which we have prepared as the Faculty of Medicine, has been published and made ready for distribution. A large family with students, academic and administrative staff, Trakya University Faculty of Medicine is ready for the new academic year. On behalf of our Dean's Office, we wish the 2018-2019 Academic Year a successful and peaceful year and offer our respects. On behalf of our Dean's Office, we wish the 2018-2019 Academic Year  to be a successful and peaceful year  and offer our respect.

2017-2018 Academic Year

BEGINNING OF THE NEW ACADEMIC YEAR

Dear Colleagues and Dear Students,

We start the new academic year with great enthusiasm. As the Dean, we made a great effort to make a good start. We updated our pre-graduation program according to national standards and prepared a new Education and Examination Regulation. Our Regulation was published in the Official Gazette dated 20 August 2017 and numbered 30160. The lateral and vertical integration of our training program was reviewed and new course boards were structured. In order to support the sociocultural development of our students, courses including Behavioral Sciences, Social Sciences and Law were included in our program. Our elective courses were restructured. National and international student exchange programs are among the most important issues of our university. As Trakya University Faculty of Medicine, we tried to improve our students' internship opportunities abroad. The most important change in our exam regulation is that in the first three classes, a Class Pass System will be applied and a Class Pass Exam will be held at the end of the year. The structuring of the Measurement and Evaluation Unit was updated according to the regulation and a Question Acceptance Commission was established for the first time in our faculty. Our physical spaces for education were reviewed. Audio-visual tools and desks were  renewed. New classrooms for elective courses were created. This year, 217 and 40 foreign students who have settled with OSYM have enrolled in our faculty. There will be students joining us with transfer quotas. Due to the high number of students per faculty member, we make great efforts to increase our faculty staff. We have applied for the accreditation of our pre-graduate education program by the National Board of Medical Education Accreditation and the procedures are continuing according to the timetable. In order to strengthen our training infrastructure, a decision was taken to establish a new administrative office by the name of the Training Support Unit within the Dean's Office. The aim of the Dean's Office for 2017-2018 Academic Year is to update the Postgraduate Medical Education Program and to make the necessary changes to meet the standards stipulated by the Medical Specialization Board. A large family with students, academic and administrative staff, Trakya University Faculty of Medicine is ready for the new academic year. On behalf of our Dean's Office, I wish the 2017-2018 Academic Year to be successful and peaceful and I offer respect.
