Scientific Meeting in Edirne by Turkish Pharmacology Association: Experimental Models of Systemic Diseases

The 25th edition of the traditional educational symposia of the Turkish Pharmacological Society was held on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at Margi Hotel in Edirne.

Hosted by Trakya University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Medical Pharmacology, the symposium this year focused on the theme of “Experimental Models of Systemic Diseases” from a scientific perspective.

The event, which brought together academicians specialized in the field, started with opening speeches in the morning.

In his opening speech, Prof. Dr. Çetin Hakan Karadağ, Head of the Department of Medical Pharmacology, gave information about the history of our Faculty of Medicine and the Department of Medical Pharmacology, and said that they are planning to organize an International Pharmacology congress including the Balkans in cooperation with the Rectorate of our University, the Dean's Office of our Faculty of Medicine and the Turkish Pharmacology Association. In his opening speech, Vice Rector and Acting Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Sedat Üstündağ shared information about the current situation of our Faculty of Medicine and stated that he found the idea of an International Congress to be organized very positive and that he was sure that our Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hatipler would provide the necessary support in this regard. Prof. Dr. Üstündağ congratulated all academicians who contributed to the organization of the training meeting,

In his speech, he emphasized the importance of hypertension and its clinical consequences for the individual and society. In his opening speech, Prof. Dr. Alper B. İskit, President of the Turkish Pharmacology Association, shared comprehensive information about the history of the Turkish Pharmacology Association, the educational meetings organized so far and stated that they will be in further cooperation with our Department.

In the scientific sessions that followed, which attracted great interest from the participants, detailed information was given on experimental models of systemic diseases. In the day-long symposium, many important topics from experimental hypertension models to hypoxia, from biological rhythm research to cardiac cell studies were discussed with scientific presentations.

Prof. Dr. Alper Okyar (Istanbul University): "Biological Rhythm Research in the Experimental Animal: Our Recent Findings with Sancar Lab"

The symposium, which attracted great interest from the participants, was successfully completed with the closing speeches at the end of the question and answer sessions.
